EVERYDAY IS JUST A STATE OF MIND (Hanson 4:31)
I'm feeling way down, don't know the reason - Sit at my piano, I can't make a sound - It's not the weather, it's not the season - I've got to find a way to turn this thing around - I pull the blinds down, I change the channels - Don't want to find it till it can't be found - Can't make up my mind, have such a hard time - I've got to find a way to turn this thing around CHORUS - Is there a pot of gold, a secret to life that you learn when you're old - I might not be here that long, here I go - Hey a thought just crossed my mind - It's not the good times, it's not the bad times - Everyday is just a state of mind - It's not what you've got, or what you have not - Everyday is just a state of mind - Everyday is just a state of mind - Is there an answer, to all these questions - I ask around and no ones really sure - Do what you can do and make your own luck - What we want is usually right in front of us CHORUS - Am I under dressed for this dance, should I even go inside - I guess it's time to go on home, go on home and change my mind - I'm feeling better, well thanks for asking - Let's live a little, let's go get around - We'll head for daylight, we'll find some nightlife - What we want is usually right in front of us CHORUS.
FAITH ( Oswanski 3:55)
" Thought about the lyrics to this one for a long time, wrote it in a relatively short period of time. ........There's a place, intuition, where you know what is real....many times- primal wisdom, you don't think, you just feel......You know what's right! It's always there........I'm working on helping Fish, Miguel and Junkanoo J. to find it ....is it Me? Charlie Oswanski
"That's a lot of work!" Fish, Miguel and Junaknoo J.
It will not cause you to stumble, so make room in your heart - Swallow twice and be humble, it's the place to start - When you're weak, you grow stronger - So let go of control - Give it up, it's profounder - There's a place for your soul CHORUS You know what's right - You know the deal - Look in your heart see to find the truth, it's very real - Don't pay no mind to the way they make you feel - You got the faith - No one can steal - There's a place, intuition, where you know what is real - Many times, primal wisdom - You don't think, you just feel - There's an old and a new book - There are rules and a goal - Step on up to the alter - There's a place for your soul CHORUS Listen to the music - Listen to the music in the morning time - Early in the morning - Just before the dawning, with a clear state of mind - A simple revelation - Peaceful situation in the new daylight - Just before the dawning - Early in the morning, when your heart is right - Whoo! CHORUS
FORTY YEARS FROM MEXICO ( INSTRUMENTAL ) ( Hanson 2:41)
" I grew up in Texas and it was forty years ago that I took my first unauthorized trip to Mexico. I was thinking back on that expedition and this tune just came pouring out. It was a different world back then but what an education that little trip was.............but that's another song!" J. Hanson
ROUND AND ROUND ( Hanson 4:43)
" This song came out of a trip that Fred, a.k.a. Todd Woodard, Miguel, a.k.a. Miguel and myself took to the Florida Keys to relax and play some music in Key West. That too was quite a little trip and verified that the laid back island life beats, hands down, the rat race." J. Hanson
I headed out with mi amigos, traveling south on the interstate - Should have held on for one more day - But you know I just could not wait - You can leave your baggage here - Find a point where the view is clear - Check out time is already near - Let the day begin CHORUS And the world goes round and round - Moving faster than light and sound - Till you can't tell what's up from down - And it goes on and on - And the wheels go round and round - Till they come off and leave the ground - That's why I'm happy to sit right here and watch the waves roll in If you feel like you're missing, and you can't find your way back home - Cannot hold on for one more day - Chances are that you're not alone - We can run ourselves to death - No ryhme or reason just one last breath - Until it's too late to second guess - Or let the day begin CHORUS The Sand and the surf - A tall drink for your thirst - A casual pace - Let em have the ratrace - So head on out with your amigos - Travel somewhere on the interstate - Do not wait even one more day - Stop and think and it will be too late - You can leave your baggage here - Hold your breath till you disappear - Closing time is already near - Let the day begin CHORUS
SOMEDAYS ( Hanson 3:53 )
Somedays are better than others and some days are worse - Somedays you roll with the punches and somedays it hurts - I'm not talking 'bout a bed of roses - All nice and easy on the silky sheets - Just a wink and a grin from my friends when I see them and a smile from everyone I meet CHORUS I don't have all the answers - Questions? I've got a few - Somedays I don't what I am doing and somedays I do - Somedays you dance with the devil and somedays you don't - Somedays you take what they're giving and somedays you won't - I'm not talking 'bout divine intervention - To make it easy to do the right thing - Just a bit of a hint and a clue what to do as I'm walking on down the street CHORUS I don't where I am going - But maybe I'll come around - Figure out what I've to do - To keep my feet on the ground - Somedays you get what you ordered and somedays you think - Someday I'll get to the water and have myself a drink - I'm not talking 'bout something for nothing - But you know easier is better than hard - I'll just swim in the sea always dreaming up schemes and I'll never leave my backyard CHORUS
SUNDOWN DOGS ( Oswanski, Hanson & Hudecek 3:51 )
" This one comes from the respect we share for those pioneers, the brave ones who choose to make a lifesyle change....Ah the change word ...Wht is it so hard to see? " Charlie Oswanski
You can run till you can't run - You can carry a heavy load - But I've seen it for myself - And I swear it ain't a joke - There's a feeling that you get - When it's time to make a change - You will feel it in your heart - And you'll know your changing lanes CHORUS When you're running with the sundown dogs - Let me tell you 'bout the time of day - Just in case you haven't noticed yet - These are fish don't even know they're wet - Running with the sundown dogs - Doesn't come without a sacrifice - But you know that it's better than - Never ever having rolled the dice - Running with the sundown dogs Sunrise gets you up - Sunset takes you down - The water puts you on your way - You were lost but now you're found - That life was always good - But now you took the chance - You always knew you should - Aren't you glad you joined the dance CHORUS There's a place for you somewhere - A place that you can share - Fill it up with love - Now look what you have done! - Don't worry about where you're going - Don't you worry about where you've been - Just sit back, enjoy the day - And tomorrow do it again CHORUS
A BETTER WORLD ( Hanson & Hudecek 4:17 )
" This one is kind of an old fashioned, campfire folk song, right down to the subject matter. It seems I'm writing more and more about social situations and working to improve things. Not a bad way to spend your time, right? J. Hanson
Can you believe what you heard today - It's the same old story as yesterday - They're asking you to join in their fight - But you've got to be sure what is wrong and what's actually right CHORUS It's such a long way, such a long way - It's coming along but we've got such a long wat to go When we were younger were we not told - What's old is new and what's new is old - We're not condemned to repeat the past - We got a reprieve so believe we can change it at last CHORUS You can sit back down, say it's not that bad - Walk away if it makes you mad - But we might miss out on what we could have - Make it a better world - There's a shadow out the wind tonight - If somethings wrong, gotta make it right - Push on through with all of our might - Make it a better world - Make it a better world - We can't forget what we learn today - Tomorrows only a day away - When one and one and one makes four - You better believe we should try just a little bit more - CHORUS
CIRCLE OF FRIENDS ( Hanson & Oswanski 4:19 )
" There's a group of people known as the Boat People. A true parade of characters that have supported us since day one in every possible way, but most of all, they are our friends! The group has grown far too large to name everyone...but you know who you are. Thank you for everything and for always! This ones for you! The Junkanoo Brothers
I look around, what do I see? - I see all my friends looking back at me - Some will sing, some others will dance - They'll go at it like there's no second chance CHORUS And you will know it when you see it in their eyes - So what happens next should come as no surprise - Good friends and a bottle of wine - Everythings going to be just fine - All of this and a bottle of beer - There's no place I'd rather be than here - No place I'd rather be thah here - I look around, it's a party again - Well the next one starts where the last one ends - You make a call and nobodies to blame - Cause we all show up yeah we're all the same CHORUS The circle of friends will always be right here - Put down your blues, pick up your glass - You'll find it's ever-clear - I look around what do I see - I see all my friends looking back at me - When the night is black and the water is cold - You can wrap these friends all around your soul CHORUS
I NEED A ......... ( Hanson 3:45 )
" This ones for everyone who might not have their dream job . " J. Hanson
I need a pond I can dangle my feet in - I need a dog who can fetch me a beer - A fishing pole and a whole lot of nothing - A hazy day that is crystal clear - I need a couch like I saw on the TV - No money down, twelve months same as cash - I need a nap ala Rip Van Winkle - I need a dream that is going to last CHORUS I need a job where I don't have to show up - One long vacation and a pension plan - Expense accounts and I never work weekends - If I show up then I will do what I can - I need some time just to pick up the pieces - I need to turn off my telephone - Call some else who can handle the problem - My lights is out and there's nobody home CHORUS I need a... I need a....I need a....I need a break - I need a break from the forces of evil - I need to find my way back to the beach - A pretty girl and a bottle of something - I need a place where I cannot be reached CHORUS
RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW ( Hanson 5:12 )
Listen people, there's something in the air - Smells like hopelessness but I know that we still care -All around us to the left and to the right - Darkness every where but there's something burning, burning oh so bright CHORUS Right here, right now - Make a change today - We got to fix this thing right here right now somehow - Woke up this morning, to greet a brand new day - Looked around the world and this all I have to say - The sun still rises in the east, sets in the west - Break the circle now - We're no different, we're no better than the rest CHORUS ...and again and again.....
EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OK ( Hanson 1:24 )
" This may sound like a typical love song, and it is a love song, just not typical. If you go to YOUTUBE.COM and search "Beers For Bums" you'll see exactly what this song is about. My wife SueEllen and I have a nephew who had just returned from Iraq, Christmas of 2007. Unable to make it home for the holidays he and several of his fellow servicemen spent Christmas Eve on the riverfront in Savanah making a lot of peoples Christmas much better than they ever could have imagined. Please check out this video, it'll make your day. I don't know if I've ever been more proud of anyone in my life........this one's for you John Gumpf." J. Hanson
Take care of me and I'll take care of you - Don't leave me alone and I won't leave you to - All the things that might scare you every night and every day - Everything is going to be OK - Everything is going to be OK - Know that I love you - Know that it's true - Reach out for someone and they'll reach out for you.....Everything is going to be OK - Everything is going to be OK
HOME ( Hanson 4:26 )
" About two years we wrote and recorded this song and have been sending copies overseas and to Military bases around the country in hopes of making the servivemen's and women's day just a little bit brighter. This is a heartfelt thank you and is dedicated to all the servicemen and women all around the world for doing the job they do. Regardless of your political beliefs or your opinion of this or any other war, please, keep them in your hearts. " J. & SueEllen Hanson
She kissed her husband goodbye - He said it's my job and how he does it with pride - But all the hows and the whys and her own strength and pride - Couldn't hold back the tears in her eyes - Until he's home, until he's home - The world's a little bit safer but she's all alone - Till he's home - Until he's home - Until they're home - Under God's grace they roam - The children don't know where she goes - The world is too big and they're eyes are too wide - They pray for the day when she'll come home to stay - But tonight they can't sit by her side - Until she's home, until she's home - The world's a little bit safer but they're all alone - Till she's home - Until she's home - Until they're home - Under God's grace they roam - This world is a river, running swollen and fast - You've got to hang on and run it - And you pray that it lasts - For every son, every daughter, every family apart - Raise up your glass - Keep them deep in your heart - Until the last one comes home - If we wake up and start off our day - And we don't say a word, when there's so much to say - It's just candles and ribbons and rain - Until they're home, until they're home - The world's a little bit darker but they're not alone - Until they're home, until they're home, until they're home - Under God's grace they roam.
PS The choir at the end of this song is the family of John & Megan Gumpf, to this day, still active in the military in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are: Chelsea (Bobo) Westfall, Bennett (Grassyass) Westfall , Lynn & Jeff Westfall, Shelby (Whitey) Gumpf, Chas(Stick) Westfall and SueEllen Hanson.
HOME ( Reprise ) Instrumental
" Imagine a sad, but scenic French countryside in April as the rain gently falls. That's what this feels like thanks to the masterful recording of Patrick Hupp, E.M.F. and the violin work of the wonderful Bob Banerjee. Thank you both. The Junkanoo Brothers
